Monk’s Shadow Residence by Kendle Design Collaborative

Scottsdale-based architects firm Kendle Design Collaborative designed the Monk’s Shadow Residence in Paradise Valley, Arizona.

The project consists of approximately 7,400 square feet of livable area in two phases on approximately 1.25 acres situated on the north side of Camelback Mountain.

Monk’s Shadow Residence by Kendle Design Collaborative:

“Phase one is a two level structure including the primary living areas, roof decks, terraces and a zero edge pool.

Phase two includes a guest house, garage, workshop and office structure on two levels with an entry gallery running between it and the phase one structure.

The owners desired a pavilion like structure that opens up to outdoor living areas on all sides of the home.

The home is designed to channel the cool evening breezes that flow down the mountainside through the home.

Glass walls have been used extensively to capture the extraordinary views and blur the line between interior and exterior space.

Large cantilevered roof forms shade the glass and create comfortable outdoor living areas where the family may gather during the monsoon storms of August to watch the amazing lightning shows put on by Mother Nature.”
