Villa Dirickz A Modern Castle in Brussels

The Villa Dirickz is located in Sint-Genesius-Rode, a city on the periphery of Brussels, Belgium.

The Villa was built by famous Belgian Architect Marcel Leborgne, a pioneer of contemporary architecture and one of the founders of Modernism in Belgium.

Marcel Leborgne designed this four-story villa for Mr. Dirickz, the director of the Forges de Clabecq, an iron and steel factory, who loved art, theater and a glittering lifestyle.

The construction started in 1929 and the building was completed in 1933.

The Villa, after a period when it felt into a state of severe disrepair, was bought in 2007 by developer Alexander Cambron.

The renovation took two years to complete as Cambron wanted to make this jewel of modernism once again habitable, fully fitted and decorated for a new owner.

Four bathrooms were added (there was only one bathroom in the original building!), as well as an indoor swimming pool and an elevator.

The 10,700 square-foot villa sits on a 5 acres lot, has 4,300 square feet of terrace and is on sale at the time of writing, for an undisclosed price…
